Andy Knott is a Senior Vice President at Wintrust Investments. He focuses on giving independent fiduciary advice to North Shore residents. Andy is known as a teacher. He takes great pride in helping people identify their strengths and weaknesses and motivating them to protect their assets. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, Andy puts his client’s interests before his own in advising on estate and retirement planning as well as asset management.
As an award-winning investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune, his work was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize twice (1981 & 1983). Admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1986, he was a prosecutor in Cook County (Chicago) before becoming an M&A expert in Australia and New Zealand where his experiences were the subject of a Harvard Business School case study.
Andy holds a BS from the University of Tennessee, a J.D. from John Marshall Law School, and an MBA from Duke University. His service to others includes previously serving on the Board of Visitors at the School of Communications at UT-Knoxville as well as the vestry of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth, Illinois. Andy holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 Licenses in addition to Life, Health, and Variable Annuities Insurance Licenses. He regularly teaches Continuing Education classes in Professional Responsibility/Ethics to CFP® certificants and Illinois insurance agents.
